Earlier this week aspiring accountants had a chance to attend 2 amazing events, packed with useful information and networking opportunities.
On Monday, students had the chance to meet Mr. Dan Dustin, Executive Director of NY State Board of Public Accountancy. Mr. Dustin addressed the process of obtaining certification, making emphasis on recent changes in educational, examination and experience prerequisites necessary for CPA certification in NY State.
On Tuesday we had the Big Four Panel!
Students, who attended, received solid advice on improving their resumes, cover letters, interview and work-related skills. Panelists from each of the Big Four covered all aspects of the rigorous application process. The Big Four representatives provided great tips, helping us make the most of our applications.
Networking aspect of the event was really exciting too!
The companies brought professionals from past OCR events, as well as new employees, giving us a chance to reconnect with people we already know, and acquire different perspectives from new professionals.
But wait, this week’s events are not over yet!
Those of you interested in corporate accounting or finance WILL want to attend the Corporate Accounting Presentation, scheduled for September 23. You will meet speakers from Colgate-Palmolive, Con Edison, Goldman Sachs, IBM, and JP Morgan Chase!
It’s a busy networking season, and I hope you are staying tuned, and making the most out of your Baruch experience!
