Dear Zicklin Graduate Accounting Society members,
I hope that everybody is surviving this very busy time in the semester. To help take everybody’s mind off their busy schedules, I would like to share some details from a community service project that the ZGAS board members participated in. The ZGAS board members decided to escape the rigors of recruiting season and midterms by giving back to the community. On a recent Friday evening, we partnered with City Harvest to collect food donations from the farmers at the Union Square Green Market. City Harvest is an organization that has been feeding men, women, and children in New York for over 25 years. Every other Friday, thousands of pounds of food donated by the gracious farmers from the Union Square Green Market are collected and delivered by City Harvest volunteers to various food programs throughout the city. Through the generosity of the Green Market vendors, we were able to collect 55 bags of fresh food. We were honored to serve as volunteers for this week’s project. For more information about the great work that City Harvest does throughout the year and to learn more about volunteering with them, visit www.cityharvest.org. It was cold outside, but the weather didn’t deter us from having some fun while giving back to the community at the same time. The event was a great reminder of the importance of being involved in activities that give us a break from our constant hard work in school and in developing our careers. Please check out some of the pictures from that evening on http://www.zgas.org/past-event-pics.html. Sincerely, Matt Freedman Internal Committee, Zicklin Graduate Accounting Society
