While midterms were keeping everyone busy, ZGAS held a panel on Forensic Accounting.
As you probably know, forensic accounting deals with financial fraud investigation. This exciting and
intriguing subject was spiced up with a unique selection of panelists.
ZGAS was proud to bring you:
Ø Katie Duggan, Fraud Investigation Specialist from Ernst & Young
Ø Jay Dawdy, President of Gryphon Investigations (specializes in corporate investigations, due
diligence, litigation support, and high liability, insurance fraud investigations)
Ø Sam Antar, white collar crime specialist, former CFO of Crazy Eddie.
Each panelist brought a unique perspective to this exciting event, and showed students how different
branches of forensic accounting intertwine to help professionals uncover complex financial frauds.
Katie Duggan explained how modern technology can simplify and automate routine screening of
financial data, which can reveal the crime behind changed data. Jay Dawdy emphasized the power of
psychology and the significance of the interviewing process while investigating financial fraud. Sam
Antar discussed tactics that criminals use to commit a fraud, and the challenges of identifying financial
