by: Alfred Han, Internal Committee of Secretary CareerFest was held on February 20, 2015 and I had an unforgettable experience. It was a great networking opportunity to meet with professionals, alumni, Baruch’s career advisors, and students. Due to the crowd, it was a challenge to converse with all my targeted professionals, but I was fortunate to converse with some professionals and gain insight about their firms.
I connected with a Senior Manager at Deloitte Consulting and received great feedback. In addition, I was able to speak with other professionals regarding their careers and recent news in the firms. They were also available to discuss my goals as an accounting professional and offered good advice. Networking is important and you should take advantage of all the opportunities Baruch offers. Here are some quick tips for future networking events: - Demonstrate your interest in the accounting profession and how you can contribute to the company. - Do your homework and learn about the firms and positions that interest you. The feedback I received today will help me with my future endeavors. I hope my experience will inspire students to take advantage of all networking opportunities.
