The recruiting season at Baruch is in full swing, and those of us looking for employment and attending company interviews have been brushing up on our communication skills. Just in time for this occasion ZGAS and UHY provided a Soft Skills Presentation.
Emily Jones, campus recruiter for UHY, has put together a comprehensive presentation outlining every aspect of the recruiting process. The event covered everything from making the career choice and researching companies of interest to negotiating an offer and polishing on-the-job etiquette.
Not only did the topic of the presentation have the outmost relevance for us, but also the content provided by Ms. Jones added a lot of value. Students who attended the event received comprehensive “manual” on what to do in the most difficult situations in the recruiting process. People who are looking for their first full-time jobs in a corporate environment got introduced to the major “dos and don’ts” of professional etiquette.
Another highlight of the presentation was its participatory nature. Everyone was free to ask the questions at any time during the event. The answers were all the more valuable coming from an experienced recruitment professional such as Emily Jones.
I hope you had a good time, and continue to prepare yourselves for the job-hunt process ahead.
