The Zicklin Graduate Accounting Society (ZGAS) is one of the foremost graduate societies at Baruch College, boasting hundreds of board alumni spread across numerous industries and functions. With over 500 students participating in our events each year, we are the most active graduate society on campus. We hold at least 15 events per year, which include accounting panels, information sessions, resume and interview workshops with recruiters, and exclusive networking opportunities. Major accounting firms sponsor ZGAS events, including the Big 4 and mid-size accounting firms, such as Grant Thornton, RSM, Baker Tilly, BDO, Anchin, CohnReznick, and Mazars.
Mission Statement
Our goal is to provide networking opportunities for Baruch students with recruiters and professionals in the accounting industry. We organize professional events, such as firm presentations, mock interview workshops, and networking events with the Big 4, mid-size firms, and local accounting firms. We provide stimulating environments at our events, so students can learn more about the accounting profession, both from each other and distinguished professionals in the field. We are a platform connecting students and accounting firms, and we help students gain a better understanding of the issues and opportunities in the accounting industry and the business world at large.
ZGAS Helping Students Find Jobs
ZGAS co-sponsors information sessions with each of the Big 4 accounting firms, as well as with many mid-size and local accounting firms. Our annual mid-size accounting career fair and corporate accounting panels are extremely popular and well-attended. While applying for a job or summer internship can be a daunting experience, ZGAS stands behind its members every step of the way. We pride ourselves on giving Baruch students every opportunity to succeed. Some of the free services we organize or co-sponsor include mentoring, mock interviews, and résumé critiques.
Work During COVID
Even with an abrupt transition from live to virtual programming due to the pandemic, ZGAS was able to successfully facilitate 13 virtual events with firms such as Grant Thornton and BDO. These included our signature spring event, Mentor Mentee Meetup, which enabled students to receive guidance and support from Baruch Accounting Alumni in various professional roles, as well as numerous recruiting events during the entirely virtual fall semester.
